Perfect Eco Tour in Manaus, Brazil

Experience the safe and enjoyable Eco tour in Manaus, Brazil, Book this amazing Eco Tour for as low as R$150 per day.  Up stream Urubu river (Rio Urubu) This tour makes a big difference, because it's done 200 km North East of Manaus into the decent Amazon rainforest at the Urubu river area. This river has dark water like the Rio Negro, resulting from organic acids released by the decomposition of organic matters which kills bacteria and other parasites in the water and the lack of terrestrial sediments which makes it safe for swimming, and the area has far less mosquitoes. The Urubu river starts in Presidente Figueiredo and runs for many km's before reaching the Amazon River. Via the Urubu river we travel up stream by motorized canoe to our ecological lodge on the riverside, just behind the lodge the jungle starts. The canopy tower has a fantastic view over the jungle and river. You can enjoy this view in relaxing chairs at the top floor of the tower. It's possible to sleep in one of the comfortable rooms of the tower with your private balcony. Our lodge has private rooms with toilet and shower. The lodge has a bungalow for guests who prefer to stay in hammocks, with lockers to put your belongings and shared toilets and showers. The veranda of the bungalow has a river view. Just using a hammock on the veranda, to enjoy the view, see the stars at night and listen to the sounds of the nature is also an opportunity. The river is good for swimming in this nice warm water. All the meals are included and prepared by a specialized native cook, based on regional traditions and local dishes. Our native guides (all English speaking and a bit of Spanish and French) are enthusiastic to show you what this beautiful place has to offer. You will experience the "caboclos" way of living! (= native people of the region) There are many options for tours. Our company doesn’t have a fixed day by day program because we think that’s the best way to do it. All tours are done in the most flexible manner to suit the needs of our clients. Starting from 2 days, up to as many as you want. To give you an idea about a tour, see an example of a 4 day and 3 nights package: For those ones who don’t have much time, don’t worry. There are shorter tours (2 days – 1 night, 3 days – 2 nights, 4 days – 3 nights) where you get an impression of the jungle. Of course if you have more time, you can go deeper into the jungle for more days and nights which gives you more chance of seeing wildlife plus getting a real feeling with the jungle! The tours are all flexible so contact us to plan a tour which fit with your plans! Day one: 07:00am, departure by car or van from your hotel in Manaus, transfer to the bus station. I grew up in the South of the Amazon in the jungle along the riverside, a real caboclo. That’s how they call the people from this state of Brazil. My parents taught me all about the forest. How to survive there and what you can use from the forest (fruits, medical plants etc.) As a little boy I went along with my father to the forest to collect rose wood and Brazilian nuts, which we sold. When I got to the age to go to school I had to paddle a lot. We went to school by canoe and had to paddle for a few hours. The teacher, a lady who gave lessons in her house, was also the midwife in town. So if she had to help somebody with delivering a baby, there was no school and I would paddle back home again. In order for us to get food we had to go fishing. Children have to help fishing as soon as they're able to do this. I know how to get different kinds of fish and of course how to prepare them. I also had to learn all the eatable things the forest has to offer. I started working in tourism when I was still very young. First I worked for a lodge, starting in the kitchen doing the dishes. This gives me an opportunity to learn cooking from the professional cooks of the lodge. After a few years working in the kitchen, I moved to the bar. Here I learned how to prepare different drinks, and worked as a barman. Later they let me help the tour guides as an assistant tour guide. In the mean time I learned English from the tourists. Since 1994 I worked for several lodges as a tour guide, in 2000 I started selling the tours as well. My dream was to have my own company and work with the native people. This was realized in 2007 when I started with my own company Amazon Antonio Jungle tours in Manaus. I also started building my own ecological lodge on the Urubu River, with help from the native people. I'm very happy I could realize this dream. The main reason why I love this job is because I like to share knowledge and experience of the forest with other people. Showing them how to live and survive in the jungle. If you want this experience yourself, contact me and welcome aboard the jungle tour.
