This will be due after the sail  DO DUE DOCK LIMITATION WE ARE NOT OFFERING BAREBOAT CHARTER SERVICE - ONLY OUPV WITH a LICENSED CAPTAIN ON Prima Stella only.  What You Can Expect: The yacht that you will get to enjoy is a classic 1976 Islander 36' sloop refitted in 2022 named “Prima Stella”.  Built out of a fiberglass hull, with a wood-cored fiberglass deck and cabin roof. It has a skeg-mounted rudder and fin keel. Upgraded with 25K in full spectrum underwater lighting!!!! The hull and rig were designed by Alan Gurney. Brand new synthetic teak decking imported from Norway. The deck, cockpit, and interior were designed by Captain Mancini.  The interior and exterior designs consist of beautiful teak and holly. "Cruising World", still votes it as one of their favorites, listing it in the top 25 greatest production monohulls of all time.    During the last few years of production the I-36 interiors were largely finished in teak, with a teak and holly cabin sole (floor). Earlier models also used the teak and holly floor, with a mix of white fiberglass and teak accents on the bulkheads (walls) in the living areas. Ventilation below deck is provided by two overhead hatches and six opening cabin ports. There are also four, larger, non-opening side windows. The foredeck is typical, containing an anchor roller and locker, two mooring cleats, and the forestay. The area under the roller and cleats is trimmed out in teak. The front overhead hatch is on an elevated section over the V-berth portion of the cabin. There is a clear space between the anchor locker and the cabin allowing for maneuverability on deck. The cockpit is reasonably deep, with small- to medium-sized drains. First Star has a wheel for steering, and an emergency tiller attachment. An engine monitor panel is to the right of the wheel, about knee height. To port and starboard are cockpit coaming boxes. A locker with engine access is in the starboard bench, and two lazarettes on the aft bench, with the tiller attachment placed between them. From the companionway the galley is immediately to starboard, while a chart table over a drawer stack is to port. A wall separates the aft end of the galley from the cockpit sail locker. The galley is separated on its forward side from the main cabin by a low wall. Aft of the chart table is a quarter berth. Forward of the chart table and galley are two settees; the port settee is able to unfold into a double sleeping berth. Forward is a hanging locker to the starboard side and a head to the port side. The mast passes through the cabin roof at the aft-most point of the head. At the most forward section of the main cabin is door to the v-berth, master stateroom. This sleeping area contains a second hanging locker, plus an anchor locker door at the narrow end of the v-berth. The head has a door, sink with storage underneath, shower, and toilet. The galley has a sink, refrigerated icebox, and a combined stove/oven fuel by CNG (Natural Gas). Prima Stella follows the general layout for most single-mast sailing yachts, having a mainsail and a foresail, with the cockpit at the back of the boat. She is powered by an inboard Perkins 108 Diesel engine.  Prima Stella is a heavy cruising yacht designed to sail the world’s oceans in style, grace, beauty, safety, comfort, and class. There is nothing like an Islander 36  for comfort. The motion underway is like an antique Mercedes-Benz. She sits very sturdy in the water.  On multi-day trips to Santa Catalina Island and the other Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California, First Star can sleep up to five guests inside the cabin and a couple more under the stars in the cockpit. She is wired for sound with a 600W stereo system and speakers all over the boat for that surround-sound effect. Bring your CDs or iPod! Guests may bring an additional bottle of wine if desired. We have a refrigerator to chill wine. Our Captain will be featuring his gourmet hors d'oeuvres with a bottle of sparkling rose. Cheeses and wines change weekly. Wine Glasses included. If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay. Just hit, “Request to Book” and send us an inquiry for a custom offer.

Sailing with Captain Mancini is a wonderful experience! He is thoughtful and informative, and he has a beautiful vessel perfect for a relaxing day on the water. We opted for a sunset sail this time, and it couldn’t have been more lovely. We will definitely book again!

We took a 4 hour cruise up to Malibu and back. The boat was excellent, and Captain Mancini was pleasant and professional. Snacks and drinks were delicious. Highlight of the trip, other than the beautiful weather, was the large pod of dolphins that swam right around the boat as they were feeding. Very cool.

Captain Mathew led 7 of us safely, and expertly maneuvered the 35 foot sailboat on a bright sunny day with mild winds and mild seas. While regaling us with fascinating stories about exotic locations, he served delicious hors d’ oeuvres and entertained us speaking on several topics and pointing out items of interest. He took us slightly off-course to point out and follow a school of dolphins. It was a delightful sail.

I highly recommend Captain Matthew and any of his boats. We were on his sailboat, it was lovely, the voyage was so nice calm and peaceful. His hors d’oeuvres are delightful and healthy and delicious. He is sincerely a lovely person and we enjoyed spending some time with him!!!

Was such an incredible experience! When we arrived he had chilled rose and fresh appetizers prepared for us and the boat ride was stunning! Saw some sharks who Matthew was able to identify their species-so really it was a National Geographic live experience. Couldn’t have asked for a better time! Would absolutely recommend.

At the age of 20 he moved to Los Angeles to study film before making his first professional short film and appearing in a few Television series. The dream to sail the Pacific Ocean is still very much a driving motivation for Matthew who intends to venture around the world via sail power. Recently, Matthew has sailed from Napoli, Italy down the Amalfi Coast to Salerno, enjoying the incredible rustic and Mediterranean towns of Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Amalfi, and the Island of Capri! Matthew is a licensed USCG Captain carrying a USCG Merchant 50 ton masters credential and is endorsed for coastwise charter. He also spent 10 years working in some of Los Angeles's finest and most exquisite fine dinning restaurants, and loves to share the cuisines of his experiences from his Italian heritage, and from notable chefs he has learned from along the way.
