What to know about hiring a boat in Destin
When it comes to boating in Destin, there are endless options for all types of travelers. Boating Magazine even named Destin Florida in their list of 10 Best Places to Live and Boat.
Pontoons, power boats, sailboats, wave runners and fishing boats are easy to find in this holiday spot, both for private hire or chartered with a captain. You can hire your watercraft for just a day or for the entirety of your holiday to cruise the sparkling emerald waters of Destin and explore nearby spots like Crab Island and Gulf Islands National Seashore.
Because of the fishing village history of Destin, it’s truly an excellent location to try your hand on a fishing charter for the once-in-a-lifetime chance of reeling in a massive trophy fish. In fact, Destin has more registered fishing charter boats than anywhere else in Florida. On a deep-sea charter, you only need to travel just over 20 miles off the coast to catch Grouper, Red Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and many more. The abundance of fish in this spot is due to the massive drop off in the ocean - the seabed plummets to a depth of 600 ft, making it a hot spot to catch the best fish.
A popular boat of choice for hire for many boaters is a fully-loaded beach-ready pontoon, some even complete with a water slide! This is a great option for large families who want someone else to take care of all the little planning details. The calmer waters make it an easy spot for less experienced boaters who want relaxing cruise conditions.
Dolphin tours are a popular choice in Destin, with many offering special experiences like sunset dolphin cruises, private sailing dolphin cruises and dolphin snorkeling off nearby Crab Island.

Cameron is the best in Destin! He found us the perfect spot at Crab Island and all the accessories made for the most relaxation and fun. It was nice not having to worry about anything, and he’s always got a smile on his face and good suggestions. Recommend to everyone!
I was met on time by Vicky and Charlie, who were very friendly and made suggestions on where to fish and eat on the water. Boat was very clean and in good working condition, and looked just like it did in the photos. Pickup and drop-off was seamless, and we had a great time on the water. Full tank of gas was included in the price, which is nice because a lot of boat rental places charge extra for fuel. I would definitely book with them again.
Just WOW! The experience was incredible. Myself, wife and 2 best friends wanted to do something fun and relaxing on our last day in Florida and the Neptune Reward was perfect. The service, quality, cleanliness, and interaction with Captain Dan and Esther was outstanding. We loved jumping into the ocean and hanging out on the water raft! We had dinner and drinks on the boat got to listen to our own music and watch the sunset over the ocean. It was perfect, if your thinking about booking this trip, do it now.
Luxury Tritoon 26' Ranger Reata, Fastest on the Emerald Coast! Up to 12 People, Free Amenities Included!
I booked Captain Ron and Captain Charles for an afternoon adventure to Crab Island for my Bachelorette party and have nothing but great things to say! I nightly recommend booking if you want memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks Captain Charles for a wonderful experience.
We stopped to watch dolphins, find seashells, wade and play at Crab Island, and even did some tubing. He graciously inflated rafts and rings for us to use. It was definitely the highlight of our vacation and an experience we’ll want to duplicate!
This pontoon and all the extras was perfect for our families! It wasn't the best looking pontoon out there and definitely had some dings and dents, but it was safe, worked perfectly, and came with literally everything you would need for your crab island trip! Christopher even gave us some spot recommendations since we had small kids where it was really shallow! Some of the highlights of extras included: large float pad/island oasis, large (LOUD) Bluetooth speaker, cooler with ice, 2 inflatables, power inverter, electric pump for inflatables, snorkels, fins, inflatable paddleboard, towels, and sunscreen! Only things you need to bring are food, beverages, and maybe a dry bag or two for your valuables. Chris seriously thought of everything! We had a blast and will be back every time for this price!!!
