Great news: Getmyboat is now providing professional photography services to our boat owners and boat rental & charter companies who list their boats on Getmyboat.

Starting as a pilot program for select users, boat owners on Getmyboat will now be able to make their listings even better — courtesy of Snappr and their network of nation-wide professional vehicle photographers. This program is an excellent way to capture and showcase the best images of your watercraft, which will ultimately help secure more bookings. Professional photos help to make a great first impression on prospective renters who are looking for the best boat to book for their rental experience.

Looking to get started? Here is a guide for you to get the most out of the pro photography services you can now access with Getmyboat to create the best listing possible for your boats.

Scheduling a Photo Shoot

First things first: you’ll need to schedule your photoshoot with Snappr, our partner in professional photography. If you've been invited to the pilot program, the link should be in your email inbox.

In the form you'll access through the link, you can fill out your contact details and start the process of scheduling your photoshoot with a photographer. Please note that there are guidelines in place to ensure a high-quality shoot, and you’ll work with a professional who will capture the best possible images of your boat.

Now, it’s time to prepare for the big day!

Preparing For Your Photo Shoot

Your photo shoot will last 2 hours in duration, and you’ll want to make sure you’re completely ready to fully take advantage of this time, showcasing your boat in the best light possible. Here are some tips to make sure you make the most of it:

  1. Invite family and friends to add a dynamic component to the images. Adding real people helps renters picture their own experience on your boat and it adds an interesting element to the photos.
  2. If possible, take the photographer out on a cruise! A short, 45-minute boat ride will be great for capturing your boat in action and will help provide a nice backdrop for the photos.
  3. Make sure your boat is ready to go and in the water before the photographer arrives. Trailered boat pictures are far less appealing to renters, and you don’t want to waste time during the 2-hour shoot window getting your boat in position for the best images.
  4. Ensure the boat is clean and well maintained before the photographer arrives. No one wants to see a dirty boat, and the professional cameras capture everything!

During the Photo Shoot

Communicate with the photographer and work with them to help take the best photos of your boat. They may have unique instructions for you in order to stage your boat in a way that works best with the current lighting or surrounding scenery. If you offer boat charters, present your boat in full charter mode — with any included amenities like water toys, staged drinks, guests, and captain and crew in professional attire (if possible).

Remember: the little details are what really count, and distinguish acceptable listing photos from great listing photos!

After the Photo Shoot

After the photo shoot, the photos will be uploaded directly to Getmyboat for your listing, and are licensed for Getmyboat only.
